Lily Arrives and Lock Up is Here!

Our new little bundle of joy, Lily, arrived on 5 September! Her arrival did not signal a slow down on the build, if anything it seems to have sped up.  Hooray!  It is lucky that she is not our first baby as everyday life continued on like she had always been there. Images of our girls playing in the hallways of our new house now fill my imagination. It is a wonderful prospect and one that I can't wait to see evolve.

Since Lily's arrival, the build has moved ahead quickly.  Rob has been flat out trying to finish the electrical rough in, the cladding is virtually finished, the last of the windows have been fitted, the insulation has been installed, the gyprock, flooring and decking were all delivered and the gyprock has been started.

Lots happening in the living space!
The greatest moment of the last two weeks on the build has been walking into our newly gyprock bedroom. It was enough to make me have a little cry.  It is beautiful. The first glimpse of what looks like a real house signified everything that we have worked hard for over the last three years. The room is bright, the floor is flat, the windows open to the outside of the house instead of the hallway and it really is going to be ours.

I love it, even without being set our room is already lighter, cleaner and neater than the shack

Lock Up - A Week to GO!

There have been some exciting times on the build over the last week.  The biggest milestone has been the roof! The house is virtually enclosed now with only a few sections of cladding remaining.  The last window frames also arrived meaning that the cladding can be completed and only the glass and doorways remain open.

Busy with site works
I have nervously awaited the roof going on, we finally know how much light will make it into the house.  Living in a dark house would have been the worst outcome, but overall I am pretty happy with how light it is and once the gyprock and paint is complete it will be even lighter.

North facing deck - even with the higher pavilion behind, there is plenty of sunshine!

Busy finishing the cladding for the pavilion hallway

New window frames are in on the hallway landing

Happy with the roof colour - and there is still some view to enjoy from our bedroom

Northerly family room - brilliant spring sunshine

Kids bedrooms are almost there!

If I had to guess, I would say that we'll be at lockup by the end of the week!! I think the baby has been waiting for this milestone to come along, so perhaps there will be some exciting news by the end of the weekend! Fingers crossed.
